The Recovery Coach II will provide direct client services to individuals and/or family members.  Services provided may include case management, skills training, group counseling, group skills training, health promotion, crisis intervention, transportation, supportive employment services, counseling and others depending on client need.  Services may be provided in office, home, school or community settings.  Recovery Coach II staff may be requested to provide supervision/assistance and/or training to Recovery Coach I staff.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Service field.
  • Minimum of eight years behavioral health experience may replace Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of one year’s experience working with State AHCCCS/RBHA clients; preferred.
  • Experience with community resources and agencies; preferred.
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card through DPS; required.
  • Current 39 month Motor Vehicle Record; required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Knowledge of State and RBHA requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of current versions of DSM and ICD.
  • CPR and First Aid certified.

Duties and Responsibilities:        

  • Provides behavioral health services to individual clients and families in an individualized manner which is most effective depending on client needs and diagnoses, including behavioral health and medical diagnoses.
  • Works effectively with all clients and family members by providing quality and timely assessments, service planning, annual updates, PCP coordination, psychiatric coordination, discharge and aftercare planning within a ‘recovery’ model of care.
  • Maintains ‘audit ready’ charts at all times.
  • Core Assessment with yearly update
  • Demographic Form with yearly or bi-yearly update
  • Service Plan with on-going Service Plan Reviews
  • Annual Assessment Updates
  • PCP coordination as appropriate, not less than annually
  • Coordinates Psychiatric Assessment with yearly update
  • Crisis Plans with appropriate revisions
  • Other forms as appropriate or requested
  • Accommodates client schedules when providing direct service.
  • Meets productivity requirements while maintaining ethical encountering/billing practices.
  • Provides home based and crisis intervention services as necessary or requested.
  • Provides or arranges transportation for clients, as necessary.
  • Provides all clients with appropriate referrals to other community agencies as needed or requested.
  • Works collaboratively with psychiatric staff, as appropriate, ensuring that all appropriate clients receive medication monitoring, psychiatric evaluations and maintain PCP involvement.
  • Provides supervision/assistance and/or training to Recovery Coach I staff including interns/externs, as appropriate or requested, documenting all supervision provided.
  • Follows professional and ethical practices when working with clients, client records, families and community personnel. 
  • Maintains confidentiality of client/family information.
  • Works effectively with all clients and families to promote trust while providing excellent customer service within a ‘recovery’ model of care.
  • Acts as a willing and efficient liaison between MHC Behavioral Health Services and other behavioral health agency staff, school district employees, CPS/DES and RBHA staff, and court employees.
  • Interacts effectively with MHC employees, RBHA employees, community members, and other agency personnel to promote trust, cooperation and growth.
  • Maintains a positive attitude towards job responsibilities by working collaboratively with all MHC staff members to create a productive, working team.
  • Observes applicable state and federal laws.  Assumes responsibility for knowledge of laws and requests clarification, if necessary. 
  • Maintains general behavioral health and education standards and keeps abreast of behavioral health and State RBHA guidelines by reading and attending in-services and workshops as appropriate and indicated in the staff development plan. 
  • Assists BH Supervisory staff with the tracking of clients, ensuring timely follow-through and timely and accurate paperwork. 
  • May be responsible for the generation of reports that will facilitate the tracking of all clients.
  • Completes other tasks as requested.
