DataValidation (DV) Coordinator is responsible for regular records review withspecific regard to the Covered Service Guide and billing requirements. DVCoordinator reviews assessments, service plans and progress notes forappropriate billing requirements.

Educationand Experience:

  • Associate’s degree; required. Minimum of four (4) years’ behavioral health experience may replace Associate’s degree.
  • Experience working with State AHCCCS and Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) clients; preferred.
  • Experience with community resources and agencies; preferred.
  • Previous clinical case management experience; preferred.
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card through DPS; required.

Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of State and RBHA requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of current versions of DSM, ICD and Covered Service Guide.
  • Ability tointerpret and provide guidance from established regulations and policies.

Duties andResponsibilities:

  • Trains staff on requirements for note writing and billing requirements.
  • Reviews encounter data for anomalies, accuracy and timeliness.
  • Uses data mining and regular record review to identify areas of strength and weakness in assessments, service plans and notes and follows up with leadership and clinical staff regarding appropriate changes.
  • Participates in all external data validation audits and corrections, including working with auditors from funding agencies.
  • Identifies areas for appropriate and ethical billing improvement strategies, including learning and teaching about less commonly used codes and their documentation requirements.
  • Works closely with the Billing Department to identify and resolve issues related to billing possibly inaccurate claims, including system and procedural errors.
  • Assists the Membership Team in identifying unfunded service provisions related to insurance.
  • Works with the Clinical Team to identify appropriate billing or service provisions and documentation.
  • Works as part of the Quality Assurance, Utilization Management and DV Team, and has knowledge of the requirements in all of the required areas to assist staff when necessary.
  • Works closely with the MHC Healthcare Corporate Compliance Department.
  • Follows professional and ethical practices when working with clients, client records, families and community personnel. Maintains confidentiality of client/family information.
  • Uses appropriate incident reporting procedures when documenting unsafe or problematic incidents involving patients, clients and/or staff.
  • Completes Incident Reports accurately and follows procedures completely.
  • Interacts effectively with community members and other agency personnel to promote trust, productivity and growth.
  • Performs appropriate follow-through from start to finish with all assigned tasks.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.
  • Utilizes appropriate channels for reporting, discussing and solving problems or concerns.
  • Completes all other tasks as assigned.
